Eavesdropping - an invaluable tool in the detective's work

Thanks to this, they allow access to guarded information, constituting ideal evidence in many cases.

However, it is not as colorful as it might seem at first. Polish law regulates who and in what circumstances can wire the wiretap. The authorized bodies include: the Police, ABW, CBA, Border Guard, Tax Intelligence Service, Military Intelligence Service, Military Counterintelligence Service, Foreign Intelligence Agency, Military Police. However, none of the above authorities can independently decide on the legitimacy of wiretapping in the course of operational activities. Only the District Court or the public prosecutor's office may grant the consent. Does this mean that, contrary to what American films show us, a detective cannot use wiretaps in his work?

Each detective agency may obtain evidence only in accordance with applicable law, failure to comply with this requirement is subject to criminal proceedings. And the evidence obtained through illegal wiretaps thus becomes worthless.
ATTENTION! When deciding to help a private investigator, check whether he has a valid license and the right to practice. Otherwise, the result of your work may turn out to be vain.

So how can a detective use wiretaps?
First of all, as an experienced person, he can suggest to the customer where the wiretap can be installed. It may happen that the customer has been the victim and someone wants to overhear him. Then, an experienced detective will check whether the customer's car, apartment or electronic equipment has a "bedbug" installed. It often happens that a close relative, a colleague or a person from the client's environment wiretapped him.
Another issue where the help of a detective can be invaluable is the instruction of the client on how to choose a wiretap and where to install it safely. Yes, that's right - as long as the detective cannot install wiretaps himself, the client can do it on his own in his home, car or workplace. Eavesdropping installed directly by the client can be as legal as possible. A good detective will advise you on where to put it on, so that there is as little risk of finding it by third parties and that the recording is clear and can be used as evidence.

In conclusion, the private investigator himself does not have the legal possibility of wiretapping. However, he can, based on his experience, check that no wiretap is installed in the customer's environment, and additionally instruct the customer where and how he can install the device himself. The detective may also suggest other means and methods by which the eavesdropping can be avoided.
